Privacy Policy - Family Circle
1. Summary
Family Circle is a shared family calendar and household helper. You can sign in with Google, create or join a family circle, and use features including calendars, notes, recipes, meal plans, shopping lists and household planning tools with people you invite.
- We do not sell your personal data.
- We do not show advertising in the app.
- We do not use third-party advertising or analytics SDKs in the app.
- Your cloud data is stored and processed using Supabase.
- Some information is private to you and some is shared with members of your family circle according to the feature and settings you use.
- Store price tips use prices entered by users and are not live supermarket prices.
2. Data controller
The data controller responsible for personal data processed through Family Circle is:
Privacy and data-protection requests can be made using the email address above. We aim to respond to valid data-protection requests within one month, subject to any extension permitted by applicable law.
3. Lawful basis for processing
Where UK GDPR applies, we process personal data only where we have an appropriate lawful basis.

We do not rely on consent for ordinary Family Circle account or circle functionality. Where processing relies on consent, such as optional Google Calendar access, you may withdraw that consent at any time. Withdrawal does not affect processing that was lawful before consent was withdrawn.
4. Information we collect
Account information
When you sign in using Google, we receive your Google user ID, email address and display name as supplied by Google. We use this information to authenticate you and create or identify your Family Circle account.
Content you create
Depending on which features you use, Family Circle may process:
- Circle membership, display name, avatar colour and administrator/member role
- Calendars and events, including titles, descriptions, dates, recurrence and reminders
- Personal and shared notes
- Recipes and optional recipe photographs
- Meal plans and shopping lists
- Prices, stores, barcodes and household budget settings you enter
- Google Calendar or iCal information if you choose to enable those features

Local device storage
Some Family Circle information may be temporarily cached or stored on your device to provide app functionality or offline viewing. Signing out clears locally cached Family Circle information where supported by the app. Cloud information stored through the Service is handled separately as described below.
Information we do not intentionally collect
Family Circle does not intentionally collect GPS location, payment-card information, address-book contacts, advertising identifiers or health data as part of its current features.
5. Google user data
Family Circle's use of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
Google Sign-In
When you use Google Sign-In, Family Circle receives your Google account ID, email address and display name for authentication and account management. We do not use this information for advertising.
Optional Google Calendar sync
If you choose to connect Google Calendar and grant the requested permission, Family Circle may request read-only Google Calendar access using:

We use this access only to:
- List your Google calendars so you can choose which calendars to connect
- Read event titles, descriptions, start and end times, all-day status and recurrence from calendars you choose to connect
- Display or synchronise those events within Family Circle
Family Circle does not use this permission to create, modify or delete events in Google Calendar.
Google Calendar information is not sold, used for advertising or shared with data brokers. Information imported for this feature may be stored in the Family Circle Supabase backend solely to provide the calendar feature.
You can withdraw Google Calendar access by disconnecting the feature where available or by removing Family Circle from your Google Account permissions. Disconnecting Google Calendar stops future access through that authorisation. To request deletion of personal data already stored by Family Circle, use the account-deletion process or contact us.
6. How we use information
We use personal information only as reasonably necessary to provide and secure Family Circle, including authentication, household sharing, calendar features, reminders, lists, recipes, meal planning and user-requested account-management functions.
We do not use personal data for advertising or automated decision-making that produces legal or similarly significant effects.
7. Sharing of information
Other members of your circle: Information you create using shared Family Circle features may be visible to other members of the circle. Private content is intended to remain private unless you choose to share it or use a shared feature.
Service providers: We use service providers to operate Family Circle. These currently include:
- Google — Google Sign-In and optional Google Calendar services
- Supabase — cloud database, authentication infrastructure and file storage
These providers process information according to their applicable terms and data-protection arrangements. We do not sell personal data.
We may also disclose information where required by law, a valid legal process, or where reasonably necessary to protect the security, rights or safety of users or the Service.
8. International data transfers
Family Circle is operated from the United Kingdom. Google, Supabase or their authorised subprocessors may process information outside the United Kingdom depending on the infrastructure and services used.
Where applicable data-protection law requires safeguards for international transfers, we rely on appropriate mechanisms made available by our service providers, which may include adequacy regulations, standard contractual clauses, the UK International Data Transfer Addendum or other lawful transfer mechanisms.
You may contact us for further information about safeguards relevant to personal data processed through Family Circle.
9. Retention and deletion
We keep personal data only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described in this Privacy Policy.
- Account and user content: generally retained while your account exists or while the information is required to provide features you use
- Deleted accounts/content: removed from active systems in accordance with the account-deletion process, subject to technical backup periods and legal requirements
- Backups and security information: may remain for a limited period where required for disaster recovery, security and abuse prevention
- Legal records: may be retained for longer where required by law or reasonably necessary to establish, exercise or defend legal claims
You can request deletion of your Family Circle account using our account deletion page or by emailing orionautomatordev@gmail.com.
Some information that formed part of genuinely shared household content may affect or remain relevant to other circle members. Where technically and legally appropriate, we will remove or anonymise personal information associated with a deleted account.
10. Security
Family Circle uses security measures including HTTPS, Google OAuth and Supabase row-level security policies intended to restrict access to appropriate users and family circles.
No online service can guarantee absolute security. If we become aware of a personal-data breach, we will assess it and notify affected users and/or the Information Commissioner's Office where required by applicable law.
11. Your data-protection rights
Depending on applicable law and the circumstances of the processing, you may have rights including:
- Access — request information about and a copy of personal data we hold about you
- Rectification — request correction of inaccurate or incomplete information
- Erasure — request deletion of personal data in applicable circumstances
- Restriction — ask us to restrict processing in applicable circumstances
- Objection — object to certain processing based on legitimate interests
- Data portability — obtain certain information in a structured, commonly used and machine-readable format where the right applies
- Withdrawal of consent — withdraw consent where consent is the lawful basis for processing
To exercise these rights, email orionautomatordev@gmail.com using the email address associated with your Family Circle account where possible. We may take reasonable steps to verify your identity.
We normally respond to valid requests within one month. Where permitted by law, this period may be extended for complex or numerous requests, in which case we will explain the extension.
Complaints
If you have concerns about our handling of personal information, please contact us so that we can try to resolve the issue.
If you are in the United Kingdom, you also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO).
If you are in the EEA and applicable EU data-protection law applies to your use of Family Circle, you may also have the right to complain to the relevant local supervisory authority.
12. Children
Family Circle is a household and family organisation service. Family Circle accounts are not intended for children under 13, and users under 13 must not create or operate a Family Circle account.
Users aged 13 to 17 should use Family Circle with the knowledge and appropriate involvement of a parent or guardian.
Parents or guardians may enter household information relating to children as part of ordinary family planning, such as names associated with events, meal plans or household tasks. Users should avoid adding unnecessary sensitive information about children.
If you believe a child under 13 has created an account or directly provided personal information through the Service, contact us at orionautomatordev@gmail.com so that we can investigate and take appropriate action.
13. Changes to this Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy when the Service, our providers or applicable legal requirements change.
We will update the "Last updated" date when we make changes. Where a change materially affects how we process personal data, we may provide an additional notice in the app or by another appropriate method.
Where processing requires consent, a change to this Privacy Policy does not replace any requirement to obtain valid consent.
